Planting Paradise: Flowers, Farms and Families of San Dieguito 1920-2020

Throughout the twentieth century, North County San Diego was shaped by a unique agricultural industry that brought both money and beauty into the area. Climate and soil encouraged early flower growers to begin cultivation here, but hard work, creativity and a cooperative community ensured that the industry would thrive.  This exhibit portrays the development of a floral industry, and tells some of the stories behind a business that, even today, continues to influence our region.

The funding for this exhibit comes from a Community Stories Grant from California Humanities, as well as generous donations from the Museum’s sponsors.

The Flowers, Farms and Families exhibit is housed in the Mainstreet Building and is open during normal museum hours, Thursday-Sunday 12:00-4:00.
